Today's match saw Wanborough outplayed and outgunned by a disciplined Greenmeadow side. Greenmeadow had several good chances in the first half, converting only one of them into an goal early into the game.
Wanborough managed to get into the match for a time in the second-half where a goal from Jacob brough the scores level. There were some great passing moves from the team, however the truce was short-lived. Another goal 7 minutes from the end sealed the match for Greenmeadow; as deserved win.
Final score Greenmeadow 2, Wanborough 1.

Without doubt are most frustrating performance of the season.
ReplyDeleteWe started the game very slowly and conceded an early goal from a corner. The game should have been over as a contest at half time as Greenmeadow had six or seven golden opportunities to increase their lead. Fortunately, Connor was on top form to get his angles spot on to make the chances more difficult than they were.
A much-improved second half saw us equalise from a well-taken goal by Jacob after Luke M had passed the ball from a wide position. Another corner resulted in hesitant defending, allowing Greenmeadow to grab a richly deserved winner.

Learning Points
We must retain possession of the football
Control the ball, head up, pass and move
We can beat any team when we play to our strengths, our defeats this season have been down to playing a kick, chase and scrap style of football
We have conceded too many goals from corners, as we have not attacked the ball in dangerous areas
Discipline
Retain your position on the pitch in order to keep shape and to make the pitch as large as possible when in possession. This will also help each area of the team remain functional even when things get tough.
