Sunday 14th November: U13 v South Cerney

Sunday's match is away against South Cerney, with a 2pm kickoff. Depending upon the weather, the venue may change, but at the moment it is due to take place on the Shrivenham men's pitch next to the Memorial Ground, Shrivenham.

Squad: Connor, Ryan, Max, Kieran, Ellis, Luke, Jason, Matt R, Cameron, Ben and Stephen

Training will take place on Tuesday from 6-7pm (7-8pm from next week).

Sunday 31st October: U13 v Greenmeadow P

Sunday's match is at home against Greenmeadow P, with kickoff at 11.30am. All players should meet at the Rec at 11am.

Squad: Connor, Ryan, Max, Kieran, Matt G, Ellis, Luke, Jason, Matt R (captain), Cameron, Ben, Stephen and Jonny

U13 Update to Christmas

As we approach half term, it's time to update you about training and with details of the matches for the period to Christmas.


Firstly, training will take place at PGL Liddington from this Tuesday (19 October). For the first four weeks, we are only able to use the astro turf from 6 to 7pm, as PGL need to use the pitch between 7 and 9pm. From 17 November, training will revert to the normal time of 7 to 8pm. All cars must be parked in the main car park, where the players should meet and make their way to the astro turf together.


There is no match next weekend, and there are a few more gaps through to Christmas (see the list below). As you know, we have a very small squad this year and it is vital that I have an idea of when players are not available as soon as possible, so that we can either draft in some U12 players or make an early postponement application - to be told a couple of days beforehand that a player is no longer available (injury and illness excepting) causes a lot of problems for the team! Please can everyone let me know whether there are any dates when players will not be available (or may not be available) for all these matches by 27 October.

Sunday 17th October: U13 v Ramsbury

A great team performance today helped secure the first point of the season. After taking the lead, it was good to see the team battle back with some passing moves to take the lead again before half time. The team then showed good spirit to keep fighting during an entertaining second half to equalise after Ramsbury had taken the lead. Thanks to the U12s who came in to help the team.

Captain's Award: Max, who kept working hard throughout the match.
Coaches' Award: Connor, who played in some crucial positions and opened the scoring.

Sunday 10th October: U13 v Purton Youth

The first half performance against Purton was good, coming back from two goals down to equalise through Luke and Kieran. Unfortunately a goal before half time and a missed penalty meant that heads went down and the second half resulted in a disappointing performance after the break.

Sunday 3rd October: U13 v Penhill Allstars

I'm delighted to say that Kieran has now signed for us and has been registered in time for tomorrow's match, so let's give him a big welcome.

 

Just to remind everyone that the match is at home (Wanborough Lower Rec) against Penhill Allstars.  Kickoff is at 11:30, so all the players in the match squad should meet at 11:00.

Sunday 26th September: U13 v Stratton Youth

Well done to everyone who played today.  Although the result did not go our way in the end, it was a very enjoyable and entertaining game.  Everybody was a credit to the club in the way that they played: working well for the team, playing some great passing football and scoring some good goals.

 

After going behind it was good to see how well the team performed to storm back into the lead: Ryan scoring from his own half, Luke tucking away his penalty rebound after Johan had been brought down, Tom chipping the keeper and then Matt finishing well.  Unfortunately the team tired as the second half continued, especially against the wind, allowing Stratton to win the game.

 

Thanks to the four U12 players who helped the team out and who all played out of their skins, including Johan who received the Captain's Award, but all the players had excellent games.  The Coaches' Award went to Ryan for his solid defensive performance, especially in the first half, and he will be captain for the next game.

Wanborough v Lydiard & training

All,

Two things:

1) Wanborough v Lydiard B

The score did not reflect the guts & determination put in by the team today.

Our under-strength side kept battling the whole match; held great shape and there some sparks of great passing, through-balls and scoring chances throughout the match.

Playing as only 10 men, against a strong-side it was a game that the boys should be proud of.

2) Training 

Training will start back at the rec on 27th April from 6:30.

Wasps U12 match 17 Jan against Eldene POSTPONED

Hi all,

The match on Sunday has unfortunately been postponed.

With the weather predicted to get warmer the boys will hopefully be able to get a game in soon!

The next match is 24 January away against Shaw @ Lydiard Millicant

Please would you check you diaries nice and early and let me know as soon as possible when you know for sure whether your boy can play (or not).
