Sunday 4 September: U14 v Wroughton
This match was a great way to start the season - playing on a lovely smooth pitch in the warm sunshine. It was a superb performance from all the players. We were unfortunate to be two goals down at half time, as there were a number of chances created in the first half.
The second half was a different story, as you continue playing some beautiful passing football, but started to put the ball away. First Luke and Mtt R combined well for Matt to slot home, then two excellent corners from Ed went in - the first from Kieran's head and the second off a defender. Matt R then put the result beyond doubt by cracking home the fourth and, although Wroughton pulled one back with almost the last kick, you deserved to start the season with the win. You also learned two valuable lessons which will be important to remember as the season progresses: you can still win with only ten players and also win from being two goals behind.
Coaches' Award: James - who played confidently and creatively on his debut
Squad: Connor, Ryan, Ed, Kieran, Matt G, Luke, Jason, Matt R, Stephen (captain) and James
