Friday 14th June: Highworth Town Tournament

The season finished with some creditable performances from the two sides entered at the Highworth Town tournament.  Eddie's squad of Connor, Ryan, Harvey, David, Fraser and Matt had a tough group including Swindon Town, Cirencester and Purton, who all proved slightly too strong in some close games.  The game against Ramsbury was the closest but, after taking the lead, a late Ramsbury winner denied the the team any points.

Jon's squad of Jonny, Ben, Jason, Luke, Ed and Joe drew their first two matches, but narrowly beat Greenmeadow in the third.  Avoiding defeat against a very skillful Bath City side could have seen the team progress, but a single goal decided that match against them.

Tuesday 7th May: U15 v Greenmeadow Youth

The second match against Greenmeadow was much closer than the home match, particularly as the early start meant we only had 10 players at kickoff.  Greenmeadow took advantage with a goal before the full complement arrived, but then Fraser scored with his first touch from Matt's cross to make it level at half time.  A goal from Joe gave us the lead, but as we looked to pull away Greenmeadow got a goal on the break and neither side managed to secure a winner, so the season ended with the points shared.

Coaches' Award: Luke

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Max, Fraser, Samuel, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Jason, Matt, Ben and James

Sunday 5th May: U15 v Avebury

This was a game of two halves, but we continued to play our good football on a smaller pitch.  We took advantage of the slope in the first half, with goals from Kieran, Matt and Johan.  However, Avebury came back in the second half with two goals of their own, but we did enough to earn all the points.

Coaches' Award: Joe

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Ed, Kieran, Harvey, Luke, Jason, Matt, Ben Johan and James

Wednesday 1st May: U15 v Blunsdon Colts

This was another good performance against a strong Blunsdon side.  A good corner from Ed was headed home for an own goal to give us the lead, before Blunsdon scored twice before half time.  The second half was even, with Blunsdon scoring again prior to Max turning in another corner from Ed.

Coaches' Award: Ryan

Squad: Connor, Ryan, Max, Ed, Fraser, Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Jason, Matt, Ben and James

Sunday 28th April: U15 v Greenmeadow

Sunday's match is at home against Greenmeadow.  Kickoff at 2pm, so all players need to meet at Hooper's Field at 1.30pm

Wednesday 24th April: U15 v Brinkworth Cats B

For the second match running we did everything but score, and weren't helped by a couple of turned ankles.

Coaches' Award: Matt, for never giving up

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Max, Fraser, Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Jason, Matt, Ben and James

Sunday 21st April: U15 v South Cerney

In spite of dominating the match for long periods, we couldn't find the net, whilst South Cerney took almost all the chances that came their way to seal the win.

Coaches' Award: Harvey, for producing his best performance yet

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Ed, Fraser, Harvey, Luke, Jason, Matt, Ben and James

Wednesday 17th April: U15 v FC Abbeymeads

A match that was dominated by the wind and a failure to take advantage of that in the first half.  After trailing at the break, Joe made an immediate impact when he came as sub at the start of the second half.  It looked as if we would then take charge of the game, but it was Abbeymeads who then scored on the counter-attack and sealed the win as we pushed forward for an equaliser.

Coaches' Award: James, who was dominant at the back

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Max, Ed, Fraser, Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Jason, Matt, Ben and James

Sunday 14th April: U15 v South Cerney

This was a battling performance, only being decided by South Cerney's last minute winner.  After South Cerney had taken the lead, a cool finish from Joe and an own goal from Ben's long kick gave us a half time lead.  Two goals after the break gave South Cerney the lead back, before Harvey equalised.  With chances at either end, either side could have won, but it was South Cerney who snatched all the points.

Coaches' Award: Max, for some incredible reflex saves
Squad: Joe (1), Ryan, Max, Ed, Kieran, Fraser, Harvey (1), Luke, Declan, Matt, Ben and James

Sunday 3rd March: U15 v FC Chippenham

With only nine players at the start and ten for most of the match, this was an excellent performance against a team that is towards the top of the table.  Chippenham scored an early goal and added a second before the break.  However they were really tested in the second half, with a couple of chances before and after Fraser scored.  Unfortunately we couldn't get an equaliser and an unlucky deflection with a few minutes left sealed the points.

Coaches' Award: Harry, for a very strong defensive display.

Squad: Connor, Ryan, Ed, Fraser, Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Matt and Ben

Tuesday, 19 February 2013

Sunday 24th February: U15 v Eldene Rangers

Goals from Fraser and Kieran put us 2-1, before Eldene equalised to make it level at half time.  Unfortunately it was another case of conceding late goals to give Eldene the win.

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Max, Ed, Kieran, Fraser, Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Matt, Ben and James

Sunday 17th February: U15 v Stratton Youth

This was a very evenly-matched game, only given a deceptive scoreline in the last few minures, as we pushed for a third equaliser.  After Stratton had taken the lead, a long kick from Kieran and pressure from Max, forced the goalkeeper to score in his own net.  Stratton then took the lead again before half time, before some concerted pressure led to a cracking first goal for Harvey.  Unfortunately Stratton then scored again and as we pushed up to try and equalise in the last ten minutes, they hit three goals on the break.

Coaches' Award: Ed

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Max, Ed, Kieran (captain), Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Jason, Matt and James

Monday, 7 January 2013

Sunday 13th January: U15 v Chippenham Town

This was a difficult first game on the 3G against strong opponents.  The first half was very close, with a deflected cross from Matt splitting two pairs of Chippenham goals.  The second half was hard work, as Chippenham stretched their lead as legs got tired.

Coaches' Award: Matt, who never gave up running.

Squad: Joe, Connor, Ryan, Ed, Kieran, Fraser, Harry, Harvey, Luke, Declan, Matt (1) and James

Sunday 6th January: U15 v FC Abbeymeads

In spite of dominating the match, two quick second half goals from Abbeymeads sealed our fate.  A good finish from Joe and numerous shots at goal could not earn us any points.
